# lighty.io > lighty.io is a lightweight SDK powered by OpenDaylight for building Software-Defined Networking (SDN) controllers in plain Java SE — no OSGi, no Karaf, no container overhead. Developed by PANTHEON.tech. lighty.io repackages OpenDaylight's core components (MD-SAL, YANG Tools, Controller) to run standalone in Java SE, with optional northbound (RESTCONF, NETCONF, gNMI) and southbound (NETCONF, OpenFlow, SNMP, gNMI) plugins. It boots faster and uses less memory than a standard OpenDaylight/Karaf distribution, and lets developers use any Java framework (Spring Boot, Quarkus, Micronaut) alongside their controller logic. ## Docs - [Homepage](https://lighty.io/): Overview, components, and getting-started example - [Use Cases](https://lighty.io/use-cases/): Worked examples and migration guides ## Use Cases - [SONiC & lighty.io](https://lighty.io/use-cases/sonic.html): Automating SONiC switch config via the gNMI southbound plugin - [Authentication, Authorization & Accounting](https://lighty.io/use-cases/aaa.html): Adding AAA (users, roles, domains, REST path policies) to a lighty.io controller - [Integrate OpenDaylight Modules](https://lighty.io/use-cases/odl-module-integration.html): Step-by-step guide to porting any ODL module into lighty.io - [ONAP SDN-C on lighty.io](https://lighty.io/use-cases/onap-sdnc.html): Migrating ONAP's SDN-C from vanilla OpenDaylight to lighty.io - [ONAP SDN-C Migration (Technical)](https://lighty.io/use-cases/onap-migration.html): Technical deep-dive on the ONAP SDN-C migration - [OpenFlow Support](https://lighty.io/use-cases/openflow.html): Connecting OpenFlow switches and managing flows via RESTCONF - [Migration of TransportPCE](https://lighty.io/use-cases/transportpce.html): Removing OSGi/Karaf dependencies from an OpenDaylight application - [HTTP Server with YANG-Modeled RPC](https://lighty.io/use-cases/yang-rpc.html): Modeling an RPC in YANG and exposing it over HTTP - [Spring.io Integration](https://lighty.io/use-cases/spring-integration.html): Building a NETCONF SDN controller as a Spring Boot application - [Rapid NETCONF Integration Testing](https://lighty.io/use-cases/netconf-testing.html): Full controller integration tests in a single JVM - [NETCONF Device on ARM](https://lighty.io/use-cases/netconf-arm.html): Running a YANG-modeled NETCONF device on a Raspberry Pi - [Clients & Libraries](https://lighty.io/use-cases/clients-libraries.html): Typed client libraries for Java, Python, and Go - [RESTCONF API & Topology Interaction](https://lighty.io/use-cases/restconf-topology.html): Reading and managing OpenDaylight network topology via RESTCONF ## Optional - [GitHub Repository](https://github.com/PANTHEONtech/lighty): Source code, issues, releases - [PANTHEON.tech](https://pantheon.tech): Commercial support and professional services
